In today’s fast-paced world, many of us are seeking deeper healing that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. As a somatic therapist, I integrate Compassionate Inquiry, Myofascial Energetic Release, and Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System to offer a holistic approach to healing. By addressing not just the mind, but also the body, emotions, and energy, somatic therapy creates lasting transformation. Let’s explore these powerful methods and how they work together to promote well-being.
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is an approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It emphasizes how our physical body stores emotions and past experiences, which can show up as tension, pain, or behavioral patterns. By working with the body, we can access and release these stored emotions, enabling a deeper, more integrated healing experience.
Compassionate Inquiry: Understanding the Root of Emotional Pain
Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, is a therapeutic method that allows clients to access subconscious processes that shape their emotions and behaviors. This gentle, compassionate approach helps people explore the underlying causes of their pain, often rooted in early childhood experiences.
In my practice, I guide clients to explore their internal landscapes through questions and reflections, helping them to connect with emotions that may have been repressed for years. This form of inquiry is essential to somatic therapy, as it fosters awareness and insight into the emotional and psychological patterns that live in the body.
Myofascial Energetic Release: Releasing Tension Stored in the Body
Our bodies often carry physical tension from unprocessed emotions, trauma, and stress. Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) works directly with the fascia, the connective tissue that runs throughout the body, to release this tension. Through deep, intentional touch, MER helps to loosen tight muscles, restore mobility, and encourage emotional release.
In my sessions, I combine MER with mindfulness and breathwork to help clients stay present with their sensations, facilitating deeper awareness and relaxation. This integration of touch and mindfulness enables the body to release stored tension more effectively, allowing for profound physical and emotional healing.
Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release: Healing Through Breath and Movement
Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System (BBTRS) is a body-oriented approach that uses breath, movement, and sound to access and release trauma. Our breath is a direct gateway to our emotional states. When trauma is stored in the body, our breathing becomes shallow, limiting the flow of life energy. By working with breath and mindful movement, we can unlock this trapped energy, facilitating emotional release and restoring balance.
During BBTRS sessions, I guide clients through deep, conscious breathing exercises that help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the body’s stress response. As clients move through the breathwork, old traumas begin to surface, and with gentle support, they are given space to express and release these emotions.
The Power of Integration: Combining Inquiry, Mindfulness, Touch, and Breath
What makes somatic therapy so effective is its integrative nature. In my practice, I blend these powerful techniques to create a safe and supportive space for healing. Compassionate Inquiry brings awareness to unconscious patterns, while Myofascial Energetic Release and Biodynamic Breathwork work directly with the body to release stored emotions and trauma.
By addressing the mental, emotional, and physical layers of our being, somatic therapy allows for a complete, holistic healing experience. This approach not only helps clients release past pain but also reconnects them with a sense of presence, peace, and authenticity.

Somatic therapy is especially beneficial for individuals who:

Have experienced trauma, whether physical or emotional
